18:44:43 dave: hi chris

18:45:05 cessex: and “Teach with Tech” http://teachwtech.blogspot.com

18:45:11 factoryjoe: hi

18:45:12 factoryjoe: 😉

18:45:34 cessex: can’t resist an opportunity to plug, sorry!

18:45:47 dave: ha

18:50:49 JasonR: LEGO has been losing money for a couple years. Walmart owns the toy market and they dictate a lot of what will play.

18:51:04 JasonR: Still, there is this… http://mindstorms.lego.com/

18:51:09 JasonR: That EdTech for you!

18:59:06 Lee: yes, it seems if documentation is in place sufficiently, it will help hold legally when needed.

18:59:08 paradox66: http://www.frepa.org/wp/2006/10/10/speaking-about-blackboard-this-is-too-good-not-to-publish/

19:10:58 Lee: I’ll take it

19:11:45 JasonR: Wonder how virtual worlds will work with that. I can have good looking, inexpensive virtual suits and office space in SL. What happens when we interact in a space that cost nothing to create and recreate items.

19:11:48 dave: http://citizenagency.com/

19:14:54 JasonR: Then again, SL isn’t very good for being mindful and existing in the present moment

19:17:27 factoryjoe: winecamp.pbwiki.com

19:18:25 JasonR: “Why does the equipment at the gym that uses rotational resistance not have generator feeding electrical power back into the power grid?” http://ask.metafilter.com/mefi/37879

  1. great talk, combined programming?
really enjoyed this talk. i have been thinking of ways to get a combined programming project done between schools, but haven’t been able to do it. i have thought about programming challenges for both schools to do on their own and post their approaches. but working on one project, definitely challenging. i think programming some google maps stuff could be a good way. perhaps two programming classes, learning the google maps api, and mapping their community and creating some kind of shared web application.

just flying off the top of my head right now, but exciting talk. on a side note, collaborative programming with SubETHAEdit on the Mac is amazing. you can literally be working on the same lines of code at the same time while it highlights who added what. give it a whirl.
